Welcome to the Eagle River Road Web Site . . .

Click for more detailed mapThe Eagle River Road Rehabilitation is a project to extend the service life of the road and enhance both safety and capacity. The project involves resurfacing, and widening of the current road based on an ongoing analysis of the crash history. The project begins at Upper Terrace Street (MP 5.3) and continues to the end of the paved roadway at the Eagle River Nature Center (MP 12.6). We  continue to meet affected property owners and seek public input.

Where are we now?

The re-evaluation of the environmental documents was completed in mid-2009. Since the fall of 2009, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Right of Way (ROW) Department has been working with individual affected property owners to acquire the additional right of way needed for the project. The acquisitions should be completed in the spring of 2012. Design of the project was delayed while the environmental concerns were addressed. Final design is now underway. Look for an invitation to an Open House in February/March 2012. The final plans will be completed by May/June 2012. The project will be advertised for construction in late 2012. Most of the construction will take place in 2013 and will probably extend into 2014. See new schedule.
